Agate: That Friend We Can Rely On
A common stone, agate might be familiar to you as the
polished slices used as coasters or other decorations around the house. Agate
comes in many colors, and often displays stripes or bands, which are created
during the layer by layer formation of the stone. Wikipedia on agate.
The various color frequencies and opacities of agate give it
great variation in frequency and metaphysical properties, but there are some
commonalities. Agate is traditionally used in rainmaking ceremonies, and is
said to ward off thirst when sucked or carried. Like running water, agate
creates barriers for psychic protection, and purifies body and mind of unwanted
energies. Agates are popularly used as healing stones, with different colors
relating to different functions and frequencies of the physical, psychic, and
spiritual bodies. Here are some suggestions for healing with agate at Charms of Light.
Banded agates relate to multidimensional thinking and astral
travel. Their balancing and stabilizing nature makes them ideal for
shapeshifting, lucid dreaming, shamanic flight, and interplanetary and astral
journeys, in which they both facilitate the journey and function as a sort of
energetic Rescue Remedy, normalizing the strange for easy processing. My stone
of choice here is the White Banded Agate.
